Welcome to the Precursor Roundup, where I will document as many of the critics groups, guilds, and organizations that hand out best-of-the-year awards in film as possible. By clicking on one of the alphabetically-listed links below, you will be directed to a page containing the year-end archives for that particular precursor group. I’m planning to start the historical foundation for each precursor at 2009 and work my way up from there, but hey, if I find some time on my hands, perhaps I’ll extend the database even further.
A quick note of temporal clarification: the passing-out of these awards usually begins in December and extends throughout the new year, so putting a label on the time period for each precursor can get a little tricky. For the archives below, I have arranged the records according to a film’s year of release. For instance, the Central Ohio Film Critics Association announced their most recent nominees on January 3, 2012, but because those films were theatrically released in 2011, I have documented those awards as “Central Ohio Film Critics Association 2011″ — that way, hopefully, there won’t be any 2011-2012 confusion throughout the archives.
