Trailer for Jason Reitman’s ‘Young Adult’

Apple has debuted the first trailer for Jason Reitman’s Young Adult, which, at least for me, being a Reitman devotee, has been heavily awaited. I’m sure the story will explore some darker territory, but the trailer seems most interested in highlighting the offbeat humor of idiosyncratic scribe Diablo Cody. And that’s not such a bad play, considering that Juno, Reitman’s lone Cody collaboration to date, made a killing at the box-office. Since Thank You for Smoking and Juno, however, Reitman has moved from Fox Searchlight over to Paramount Pictures — along with their handling of Young Adult, which will hit theaters on December 9, they also distributed his wholly wonderful Up in the Air. While Charlize Theron’s lead turn will probably be the main point of interest for many, I’m especially jazzed to see Patton Oswalt and Patrick Wilson — two sensational and underused performers — churn out their supporting turns. I’ll post an embed after the cut, once I find a suitable copy.

Driver: Yes, quite a bit. Up in the Air, though, for me, is far and away Reitman’s best to date.
